  • Shape and Size: The gallbladder resembles a small pear in shape and typically measures about 3 to 4 inches in length and about an inch wide.

  • Cholecystitis: This is an inflammation of the gallbladder, often caused by gallstones blocking the bile ducts. It results in severe pain and can lead to complications if not treated.
  • Gallbladder Cancer: While relatively rare, gallbladder cancer can be aggressive and hard to diagnose in early stages due to the lack of specific symptoms.
  • Gallbladder Removal: For those with recurrent gallstones or other gallbladder issues, cholecystectomy, or gallbladder removal surgery, may be recommended. Interestingly, the human body can adapt to life without a gallbladder, with the liver discharging bile directly into the small intestine, albeit less efficiently.
